Kakahead

Well, Kakahead.com has certainly evolved.   Can you believe this silly site has been live since January of 2000??  At that time, if you did a search on “kakahead” you would only find www.kakahead.com and maybe one other listing.  Now there are lots of “kakaheads,” but only one original…

Anyway… I was trying to think up a unique name for a website several years ago; and Kakahead.com jumped into my head.   I was digging in the cobwebs of my brain for a domain name that shouted FUN (with capital letters).  I have to admit, being called a  “kakahead” was not exactly a compliment when I was growing up.  However, if used in the derogatory way, the spelling would probably be different (caca is Spanish for poop).

I had no clue how to do all this website stuff (some would say I still don’t!).  I did some reading, registered the domain, got the thing “on the air” with a pretty crude website editor and started to have fun.  Fun is very important to me, but also like to give “my two cents” about things that are going on in the world.  You know, crazy stuff like, “hey, let’s all do something abnormal like quit killing each other and start cleaning up this poor planet.”

Then one day I typed “kaka” into Google and did a search; and among other things I learned that a “kaka” is a parrot indigenous to New Zealand (see the photo below).  The poor kaka is in some trouble due to vanishing habitat and competition for food. The more I read about this kaka parrot, the more my ideas changed regarding what kind of website “Kakahead.com” should become.

Many of you have heard of Jimmy Buffet fans calling themselves “Parrotheads.”   They have clubs all over and have fundraisers for environmental causes, cancer research, and many other Earth-friendly and people-friendly causes.

So there you go.  A new and improved, complimentary way to use the term “kakahead.”   Basically I’m a grandpa who loves to play like a big kid;  yet I’m very serious about life, the universe and everything.  One minute I’m bemoaning the atrocious behavior of humans; the next thing you know I’m jumping in a mud puddle with both feet.

You’ll never see anything that is not “family friendly” on this site.   I’ll probably jump on a soap box from time to time; but I’ll give you all the opportunity to comment on lots of stuff, including my soapings.   Comments with profanity or abusive language will never see the light of day on here… keep in mind that kids will be visiting.   We have enough garbage on the internet as it is.

There is also a contributor to this site by the name of  Hyram C. Gilmore who says some pretty crazy things; many of which make no sense.  I’m happy to get his silly writings here because he makes me laugh.  Laughter is VERY important you know.
